New Hair Loss Treatment: Injection Finasteride (Mesotherapy) Vs Oral Finasteride

Updated: Oct 21, 2022

Hair loss, both male and female is a psychologically distressing condition as it leads to lowered confidence and self esteem. Oral finasteride has been used for the treatment of hair loss (androgenetic alopecia), but it is associated with many unwanted side effects including impotence, decreased libido and ejaculation disorders.

The aim of the study below is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of mesotherapy using finasteride versus oral finasteride for the treatment of hair loss. The study concluded to mention that mesotherapy is an effective tool for the treatment of hair loss. Oral finasteride has been used for the treatment of alopecia since a long time, but it has an effect on sexual dysfunction. These effects are much less in the patients in the mesotherapy group. Still, this area treatment is still relatively new and is yet to be further explored with long-term follow-ups. However, preliminary studies look very good. Our clinical advice and recommendation is that, for patients interested in this form of treatment, it to be completed alongside other complimentary treatments like minoxidil and platelet rich plasma (PRP).

Lately, we have had far more success with topical dutasteride mesotherapy which gives adequate suppression of DHT, with very minimal systemic side-effects. Get in touch to find out more.
