It is our sole aim to reduce pain, improve function and to get individuals back to normal activities or competitive sport. We can provide many different types of hip pain treatment that may be suitable for various conditions.
WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF HIP PAIN AND INJURY?
Hip pain is very common and can cause huge amounts of pain and disability. Hip pain can range from mild localised discomfort through to significant levels of pain. Most cases of hip pain are triggered by a multitude of overuse, repetition, injury (or trauma), joint inflammation or cartilage damage/degeneration. Here are some examples of common causes of hip pain. Severity varies, but below are some examples of common causes of knee pain and injury.

COMMON TYPES OF HIP PAIN
-
Soft tissue pain and inflammation (tendons, ligaments or bursa)
-
Hip joint inflammation
-
Labral tear
-
Lumbar spine or SI joint referred pain
-
Hip arthritis
-
Hip impingement
-
Bursitis
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ACUTE & CHRONIC HIP PAIN
-
ACUTE PAIN is often due to direct trauma or injuries such as ligament tears, or sprains.
-
CHRONIC PAIN may be a results from progressive wear and tear, repetitive strain, or degenerative conditions like osteoarthritis.
It is also very important to be aware of more sinister causes of hip pain, like inflammatory arthritis, tumours, or avascular necrosis. Important symptoms to be aware of are prolonged morning joint stiffness, fever, altered sensation or tingling down both legs and/or around the genitals/anus, ongoing cramps in the legs, abdominal pains, bowel and bladder incontinence, fatigue, weight loss and night pain.
COMMON HIP CONDITIONS WE SEE & TREAT
At our Birmingham Hip Pain Clinic, we specialise in diagnosing and treating a wide range of hip issues using a wide range of treatments, including regenerative and nonsurgical therapies. Below is a list of some of the most common issues we address in our clinics across Birmingham and Warwickshire.
Hip osteoarthritis develops when the cartilage within the hip joint gradually wears down, leading to pain, stiffness, reduced range of motion, and difficulty with walking or daily activities. At Dynamic Regenerative Medicine, we focus on joint-preserving treatments, including image-guided injection therapy, to reduce inflammation, improve joint lubrication, support cartilage health, and help delay or avoid surgical intervention.

Gluteal tendinopathy is a common cause of lateral hip pain, often felt on the outside of the hip and worsened by walking, climbing stairs, or lying on the affected side. At Dynamic Regenerative Medicine, we focus on joint preservation using conservative management via manual and physical therapies (osteopathy & physiotherapy) in combination with advanced injection therapy can help reduce tendon-related pain and inflammation, allowing patients to engage more effectively in targeted rehabilitation aimed at restoring strength, load tolerance, and hip stability.
Hip bursitis occurs when the fluid-filled bursae around the hip become inflamed, often due to repetitive strain, altered biomechanics, or tendon overload. Symptoms include localized pain and tenderness on the outer hip. Image-guided injection therapy can provide effective pain relief by settling inflammation, enabling improved movement and participation in rehabilitation.

Hip Impingement (Femoroacetabular Impingement – FAI)
Hip impingement occurs when abnormal contact between the ball and socket of the hip joint restricts movement and irritates surrounding tissues. This can cause groin pain, stiffness, and discomfort during prolonged sitting or sporting activities. Injection therapy in combination with conservative management may be used to reduce joint inflammation and pain, supporting improved mobility and more effective rehabilitation.
Labral Irritation and Hip Joint Pain
Hip impingement occurs when abnormal contact between the ball and socket of the hip joint restricts movement and irritates surrounding tissues. This can cause groin pain, stiffness, and discomfort during prolonged sitting or sporting activities. Injection therapy in combination with conservative management may be used to reduce joint inflammation and pain, supporting improved mobility and more effective rehabilitation.

The Role of Injection Therapy in Hip Pain Management
At Dynamic Regenerative Medicine, injection therapy is an important part of pain treatment approach. Image-guided injections allow us to precisely target the source of pain, reduce inflammation and support tissue function. When combined with expert rehabilitation and movement correction, these treatments can significantly improve pain, mobility, and long-term joint health.
Why you may Choose Injection Therapy for Hip Pain?
Injection therapy allows us to deliver treatment directly to the source of pain within the hip surrounding soft tissues. Using image-guided precision, we can reduce inflammation, improve tissue healing, and create an optimal environment for healing. This often leads to faster pain relief, improved mobility, and better engagement with rehabilitation.
Supporting Cartilage Health and Joint Preservation
For many hip conditions, particularly osteoarthritis and cartilage injuries, the goal is not just pain relief but long-term joint preservation. Our injection treatments are designed to support cartilage health, reduce ongoing wear, and slow degenerative changes within the hip, helping patients maintain function and delay or avoid surgical intervention.
Combining Injections with Expert Rehabilitation
Injection therapy is most effective when combined with a structured rehabilitation programme. By reducing pain and inflammation first, patients are able to move more freely, strengthen key muscle groups, and correct biomechanical faults. This integrated approach leads to more durable outcomes and reduces the risk of recurrence.

Specialist Imaging or Private MRI Scans
At Dynamic Regenerative Medicine, our hip pain clinics in Birmingham and Warwickshire can provide ultrasound imaging to look for signs of tissue damage and inflammation. However, on occasions we may require a more in-depth analysis. If a private MRI scan is considered, we will put in a local referral to our Imaging Centre in Solihull. You will then be contacted and booked in within the next few days. Following your scan, the report will be completed by our colleague Dr David Beale (Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist). This report will then come back to us and will we then interpret the images and discuss with you then best course of treatment for your complaint.
It should be noted that advanced cases of hip osteoarthritis are extremely difficult to manage conservatively and surgical opinion may well be advised. In these cases, we may refer to our trusted colleagues Mr Shiv Jain (Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon) for opinion on hip surgery or total replacement.
Fortunately, many cases of hip pain and injury we see here at Dynamic Regenerative Medicine can be improved with and treated successfully with conservative treatment modalities. We have also built ourselves a very good reputation of delivering high quality regenerative treatments for various conditions associated with hip pain. The most popular being P-PRP injection treatment, in which patients travel from all over the UK to see us for treatment (further information can also be found on the ORTHOBIOLOGICS link below). If patients do not respond adequately to conservative treatment via manual and physical therapy or the problem is getting worse, then consideration for injection therapy may be discussed. It should be noted that is patients are showing signs of advanced injury or disease, then we may discuss the option for an MRI scanning to get diagnostic clarity of what it is that may be causing the issue. Generally speaking, based from a sound justifiable working diagnosis, not all vases may need imaging prior to treatment.
If a cause of your hip pain is suspected to be of an inflammatory, autoimmune or rheumatological origin, then you will be asked to provide a blood test and lab panel to check for raised inflammatory markers - ESR, CRP and TNFa, and maybe immunological makers.
