How does Regenera Activa® Hair Loss Treatment work?

Regenera Activa® is a fast 3 step procedure:

1. Harvest of micro-grafts

2. Extraction of regenerative cells from micro-grafts

3. Injection of regenerative cells to hair loss areas

Who can have Regenera Activa® Hair Loss Treatment?

Both men and women with hair thinning. Androgenetic Alopecia or Pattern Hair Loss are suitable.

What is androgenetic alopecia (male or female pattern hairloss)?

Androgenetic alopecia also known as male or female pattern hair loss and is the most common form of hair loss.

Male patients with grade I to III hair loss are suitable candidates for the Regenra Activa hair loss treatment. This is because the Regenera Activa® micro-graft method is based on the stimulation and recovery of dormant hair follicles.

It is unlikely that Regenera Activa® is fully successful in helping large areas of hair follicles that are non-functioning. This is where hair transplant is recommended. In female pattern hair loss, the hair becomes thinner all over the head.

Who will benefit the most from Regenera Activa®?

Healthy men and women with mild to moderate hair loss and thinning are likely to benefit the most from Regenera Activa® treatment. However, advanced hair loss and thinning in women has also been shown to produce good outcomes.

Regenera Activa® Micro-graft Vs Hair Transplant FUE Surgery

Minimal downtime:

Hair transplant surgery is an invasive procedure that requires downtime of 1 week due to post-surgery recovery and variable success rates. Shaving of hair is generally necessary. Hair transplant surgery has the risk of damaging good healthy follicles.

Regenera Activa® micro-graft hair loss treatment has no downtime.

This being said, transplant surgery is often recommended for large areas of hair loss. Micro-graft hair loss treatment is recommended for generalised hair thinning. This being said, more and more patients are now doing the two treatments together to maximise benefit.

What results can I expect to see with Regenera Activa®?

Regenera Activa® works to stimulate hair follicles straight away. Early visible results and reduced hair shedding can be seen within 1 month. To date, clinical studies have shown improvements in hair density, hair counts and scalp coverage in as early as 1-3 month, but patience is a virtue. Improvements in total hair thickness takes time. Like even when you have a hair transplant, it takes approximately 10 months for the hair to grow.

Regenera Activa® in combination with other hair loss treatments.

Yes, to improve the effectiveness, this treatment can be used in combination with the following:

  • Platelet rich plasma (PRP) treatment

  • Topical dutasteride

  • Finasteride

  • Minoxidil

  • Blood stimulating shampoos

This being said, transplant surgery is often recommended for large areas of hair loss. Micro-graft hair loss treatment is recommended for generalised hair thinning.

Advantages of skin biopsy versus adipose derived stem cells:

Skin tissue of the scalp is far more specific than adipose tissue, due to having the same embryological origin of the affected region of the hair loss. The science behind the regenerative capabilities is of powerful protein progenitor cells. These important cells inclosed within the micrograft provide a solution or a powerful site-regulated drugstore that serve as modulatory agents. By injecting these micrografts into the affected areas of hair loss, these cells are able to perceive the micro environment that surrounds them.

To obtain the same amount of progenitor you need at least 10ml of fat tissue, whereas with a skin biopsy micro graft, you only need three small dermatological punches of 2 mm to achieve the same quantity.

Finally, skin biopsies of far less invasive than lipo with much less bruising.
