Are You Looking For Effective Skin Rejuvenation? Vampire Facial Birmingham

Updated: Jun 4, 2019

Here at Dynamic Regenerative Medicine we offer the most advanced treatment in Skin Rejuvenation, this being Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy. So, what’s the difference between the vampire facial and vampire facelift? Well, in simple terms – a vampire facial is considered a facial using plasma. This is often a non-injection technique but instead with the use of a derma pen. The ‘facelift‘ however is a more advanced technique, using injection of Platelet Rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM). This type of treatment is more advanced in that it uses structure and scaffolding, as opposed to just PRP liquid. It is also thought that it also has the capacity to release far more growth factors. The vampire facelift can be performed with confidence here at our Birmingham and Solihull clinics by our experienced specialist aesthetic clinicians and medical doctors.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) works on by harnessing the body’s own natural healing powers to combat the dreaded signs are ageing. Regenerative medicine is now becoming increasingly popular.

So what makes platelets so special?

Platelets contain a high content of growth factors, which are bioactive proteins that facilitate healing and repair. Upon re-injection the platelets release their growth factors which trigger surrounding cells to regenerate, at the same time as stimulating repair, increasing volume and rejuvenating the skin by stimulating new collagen.

At Dynamic Regenerative Medicine, we only use concentrated Platelet Rich Plasma (cPRP) which enables us to effective treat large areas. A small amount of blood is drawn from the patient before the treatment, then the blood cells are separated by using a centrifuge. This then is used to harvest the platelet rich plasma which will be activated and re-injected into the desired area. PRP therapy is used to rejuvenate skin, treat fine lines and wrinkles, and to give an overall more radiant appearance. PRP therapy is also commonly used for scar treatment and acne scar treatment.

What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Treatment and how does it work?

PRP therapy involves harvesting platelets from the patient’s own blood for the treatment the skin, as well as being commonly used in hair restoration and for pain and injury. When platelet rich plasma is injected into the treatment areas, the platelets release their growth factors that then stimulate the production of new collagen. Collagen is what gives skin a youthful appearance, which is unfortunately reduced as we age, causing wrinkles and fine lines. Another cell stimulated during the process is the pre-adipocyte cell, which is a cell type that can convert into a fat cell, which is especially important in the face to fill out lines and to contour the face.

PRP procedure

Following a consultation, the practitioner will draw 20ml of your blood. The blood will then be spun in a centrifuge to separate the cells as required. The skin will be cleaned using a wipe, and antiseptic will be applied to the injection site. A topical local anaesthetic will then be applied to the skin of the injection site for 30 minutes. The PRP will then be injected into the skin, with aseptic technique, in the desired areas using a very fine needle. The injection process will only last five minutes. The treatment usually takes 45 minutes In total.

What is the recovery time after PRP treatment?

Following on from the treatment there is some initial redness which settles down after a few hours. Some areas can look swollen and bumpy post treatment as you are injected with a solution, however this normally settles after a few days. Bruising is generally minimal and occurs in less than 10% of people. If you are subject to bruising, this can settle after a few days.

Risks and complications of PRP treatment

Initial redness and tenderness you would associate with any injection procedure. Infection again is also associated with any injection procedure, however this is extremely rare as correct sterile precautions are always adopted.
