Knee osteoarthritis can present a variety of forms, and our main objectives are to alleviate pain, enhance mobility, and slow the progression of the disease. At Dynamic Regenerative Medicine, we very frequently encounter patients with knee osteoarthritis at our Warwickshire and Birmingham clinics, with cases that can range from mild to severe. We make it a priority to explain to patient the significance of early intervention, as addressing osteoarthritis promptly can help manage slow down degenerative changes. As the condition progresses, it can increasingly difficult to treat, often leading to the for surgical options such as total knee joint replacement, which is the most common orthopaedic surgery performed today.
In our practice, we always advocate conservative treatment and management of knee pain and osteoarthritis whenever possible. However, are many instances where additional resources and advanced treatments are necessary achieve the best outcomes for our patients. We have earned a strong reputation for delivering high-quality regenerative treatments for pain, with our P-PRP injection therapy being the most popular option. if we identify signs of advanced injury or disease, we may recommend MRI scan to gain diagnostic clarity on the underlying causes of your knee pain. This step helps us tailor a plan that best addresses your individual needs. Additionally, if there is a suspicion your knee pain may have an inflammatory or rheumatological origin, we will request a blood test lab panel to assess for elevated inflammatory markers such ESR, CRP, and TNFa, as well as any immunological markers. Our goal is provide comprehensive care that not only addresses your symptoms but also improves your overall quality of life.
Specialist Imaging or Private MRI Scans
At our arthritis clinics, we can provide ultrasound imaging to look for signs of tissue damage and inflammation. However, the knee joint can require a more in-depth analysis using an MRI. If a private MRI scan is considered, we will put in a local referral to our Imaging Centre in Solihull. You will then be booked in within a few days. Following your scan, the report will be completed by our radiology colleagues. This report will then come back to us and will we then interpret the images and discuss with you then best course of treatment for your compliant.
In cases where the disease progression is too severe, or the problem is not getting better, then we may refer to our trusted colleagues Mr Jamie Arbuthnot (Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon) or Prof Martin Snow (Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon) for surgical opinion.

INJECTION THERAPY FOR KNEE OSTEOARTHRITIS
Sometimes knee injuries to ligament, tendons, or cartilage can turn into chronic pain. In these cases, sometimes the body needs a push to help healing and repair. Injection treatment for knee pain, injury and osteoarthritis can also be commonly used to treat the stubborn condition and can deliver great success in many cases. There are many different forms of injection therapies, but the most common are corticosteroid injections, platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections and hyaluronic acid (gel) injections.

Individuals who have been suffering with knee pain who have not responded satisfactorily to conservative treatment and management may be advised to consider a cortisone injection to reduce pain and inflammation. However, it is very important to appreciate that steroid injections (if successful) are often only short-lived and may have an overall degenerative effect on the local tissue and cartilage if repeated often. Although they can be good for inflammation, cortisone injections are not routinely used for chronic knee pain management or knee tendons due to weakening of tissue. This can put tendons at an increased risk for rupture (tear), if repeated too often. This being said. we believe steroid injections are a good option for patients having acute flares, to reduce pain and inflammation, and to allow for appropriate rehabilitation of the joint. Further information can be found by following this link.
Hugely growing in popularity, platelet rich plasma (PRP) treatment is a safe natural treatment commonly used in many different cases of musculoskeletal pain and injury, that uses platelets from the patient’s blood to promote and facilitate healing and repair in damaged tissue. Increased scientific literature from evidence-based clinical trials are increasingly showing that platelet rich plasma (PRP) injection treatment is safe and effective for the treatment of knee pain, knee osteoarthritis and injury, also have improved benefits over cortisone, particularly for long term progress.
