MUSCULOSKELETAL CONSULTATION AND EXAMINATION

Are you suffering from joint pain, muscle stiffness, or a recent injury? At Dynamic Regenerative Medicine, with clinics in Birmingham and Warwickshire, we offer expert physiotherapy and osteopathy services tailored to treat musculoskeletal pain and injury through safe and effective conservative management.
Our pain and injury clinics in Birmingham and Warwickshire highly believe in the importance of good conservative management for the treatment of musculoskeletal pain and injury treatment. This is why we regularly provide physiotherapy and osteopathic treatment for the treatment of manual therapy and physical therapy.
During your first visit, your osteopath or another clinician will spend some time taking a medical history which will include questions about your general health and lifestyle as well as asking you about the symptoms or injuries that you are seeking help with. With your consent, the clinician will then perform a physical examination which is likely to involve examining areas of your body where you are experiencing pain and asking you to move around. The clinician may also look at test results, x-rays and scan reports if these are available.
It may be necessary for the clinician to ask you to remove some clothing so that they can see and examine the areas of the body causing concern. If you are uncomfortable undressing the practitioner may be able to suggest clothing, such as shorts and a t-shirt, or a close-fitting garment that will enable them to work effectively without making you feel uncomfortable, so please do discuss this. You are welcome to bring someone with you into the examination room if this puts you at ease.
Following clinical findings, the clinician will then make a diagnosis and discuss a course of treatment with you. This may involve visiting a few times for treatment. The osteopath or other clinician will discuss the likely cost of this treatment and ask for your consent to begin treatment. If they believe that your condition needs further assistance, then you may be referred to your GP or another suitably qualified professional.
What Is Musculoskeletal Pain?
Musculoskeletal pain refers to discomfort in the muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons, and bones. This can result from:
• Overuse injuries
• Sports injuries
• Arthritis
• Poor posture or biomechanics
• Repetitive strain
• Postural dysfunction or trauma
Common conditions include back pain, neck pain, knee pain, shoulder pain, sciatica, tendonitis, and more.
How Physiotherapy and Osteopathy Can Help
Both physiotherapy and osteopathy are specialised forms of musculoskeletal physical therapy and manual therapy. They are focused on restoring movement, reducing pain, and supporting long-term function and recovery.
Key Benefits of Physiotherapy and Osteopathy
✅ Pain Relief
Gentle hands-on techniques and exercise therapy reduce inflammation and discomfort.
✅ Improved Mobility
Treatment enhances joint mobility and muscular function.
✅ Posture Correction
Reduces strain on the body caused by poor alignment.
✅ Injury Prevention
Strengthening exercises help prevent recurrence of injury.
✅ Personalised Rehabilitation
Tailored programs for recovery after injury or surgery.
Our team at Dynamic Regenerative Medicine is highly experienced in integrating physiotherapy and osteopathy as first-line conservative treatments before considering more invasive options.
A Conservative, Patient-Centred Approach
At Dynamic Regenerative Medicine, we believe in conservative, evidence-based management of musculoskeletal conditions. This includes:
👉🏼 Manual therapy techniques
👉🏼 Therapeutic rehabilitation exercises
👉🏼 Soft tissue release
👉🏼 Joint mobilisation
👉🏼 Lifestyle and ergonomic advice
Conservative care can significantly improve outcomes without the need for surgery or long-term reliance on medication. We pride ourselves on offering holistic care plans designed around your needs and goals.
Is the treatment painful?
We work very hard to make treatment as painless as possible, but you may experience some discomfort during and after treatment. Your clinician will warn you if they think that the technique that they are about to use is likely to be uncomfortable and will stop if you tell them that you are feeling too much pain.
Following treatment about half of the patients report some mild soreness in the area of their body that was treated, this can usually be relieved with an over-the-counter painkiller and will go away within 48 hours. If you experience serious or unusual symptoms after treatment you should contact us for advice straight away.
Working Alongside Musculoskeletal Medicine and Injection Therapy
For patients with moderate to severe conditions, physiotherapy and osteopathy can work in combination with advanced musculoskeletal medicine
This integrated approach ensures both short-term pain relief and long-term functional improvement. Our clinicians are trained to work closely across disciplines to offer comprehensive musculoskeletal care.
