Topical Finasteride Treatment for Hair Loss Birmingham

Here, at our hair loss clinic in Birmingham we are constantly trying to research and find out ways on how we improve the treatment of hair loss for both men and women. One common form of treatment for male pattern baldness - is a drug called Finasteride. Finasteride works by decreasing the amount of the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT).

The decrease in DHT is used to promote an increase in hair regrowth. However, it can often be associated with many unwanted side effects such as: decreased sex drive, trouble getting or keeping an erection, or increase in breast size. Serious side effects can also include a risk in male breast cancer.

Topical Finasteride holds lower side effects compared to oral medications like finasteride (Propecia®) and is still clinically effective in increasing hair growth.

Topical Finasteride Treatment also contains the following active ingredients:

1. Topical Finasteride

2. Minoxidil

3. Retinoic Acid

Due to the unwanted side effects of sexual dysfunction, oral finasteride is often rejected for the treatment of hair loss by individuals. Topical finasteride has clinically proven, evidence-based, scientific data to show similar therapeutic effects when compared to oral finasteride but it has lower risk of sexual side effects since it is applied topically.

Combining Minoxidil and Retinoic acid to finasteride promoted the overall success.

There are many different form of topical minoxidil that exist over-the-counter, but limited availability of topical finasteride.

Our topical finasteride with the combination of additional active ingredients is based on the clinical evidence based research currently available. To date topical finasteride is showing the hair-growing power of oral finasteride while minimising the risk of unwanted side effects.
